Gilbert DeMedeiros, Practice Leader, Human Capital Development:

Gilbert DeMedeiros is Practice Leader, Human Capital Development. He is based in Montreal, Canada and also leads International Business Development for Latin America.

Mr. de Medeiros was a Sales Executive with the IBM Lotus Worldwide On Demand Workplace initiative, focused on IT solutions for collaboration, human interaction and performance improvement. Before joining IBM, he was a Principal Consultant and Director of Price Waterhouse and Coopers’ Learning and Development Group in the Human Capital Practice in Montreal, Canada.

Mr. de Medeiros has held executive positions in multinational companies (Unilever, Microsoft, IBM, ADL, PwCC, Berlitz, Promon Technologies, Abril Group), acquiring extensive industry knowledge in the sectors of CIT (communications and information technologies: software, internet and the new economy), CPG (consumer packaged goods), engineering, business consulting services, publishing and media. He detains skills and competences in business general management, business development, marketing & sales, distribution, operations, human resources, product development and customer support.

As an entrepreneur, he has had hands-on involvement, starting up several small businesses. Amongst the two most recent experiences, prior to PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting, Mr. de Medeiros worked as new ventures developer for the Brazilian engineering and professional services group Promon Technologies, leading the start-up and later becoming the COO of an end-to-end solution provider in the fields of knowledge management and e-learning. Before that, he developed the business plan and headed the implementation of an order processing and fulfillment handling, door-to-door delivery company, backed with risk capital financing from Chase Capital Partners and Brazilian Venture Capital firm GP Participações.

As a consultant, Mr. de Medeiros participated in assignments involving business process re-engineering and new technology management, product design, human-computer interaction assessment and the internet-based productivity improvement (e-commerce, e-learning, knowledge management).


Mr. de Medeiros has had academic experience both teaching and participating in research projects at universities. He obtained a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction and Cognitive Ergonomics in 1992 from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) in Paris (France). and an Advanced Management Program (AMP) diploma in business management in 1997 from the INSEAD in Fontainebleau (France). He also holds an Industrial Engineering degree since 1985 from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Brazil).
